At Cachet we have developed a unique way of laying out our pavee set Swarovski Crystals. Our Trade Marked Puzzle Setting is a style of setting created by Cachet that adds texture and interest to pavee set items.
During the design process when we are creating the layout for the crystals we start with a larger size, maybe a 3mm or 4mm, and then surround it a variety of smaller sizes creating a pocket for another larger crystal but of a different size to the one next to it and then on and on, the space in between the crystals is then laid out with tiny beads.
This process creates a carefully laid out random arrangement of different size crystals that fit together as you would piece together a puzzle.
This design is then passed on to our master model makers who transfer this road map into the original master pattern.
When the individual items are produced each setting is re drilled to ensure a perfect fit and whereas most fashion jewelry has one size of crystal the settings are very rarely drilled individually but we find that this produces a better setting for the crystal to be fitted into. Our Puzzle Setting is therefore very time consuming because the setters must change the drills to cover the many sizes of Crystals that we use and of course each style has a different road map.
When it comes to fitting the Crystals the setters must have all the different sizes laid out and select the correct size for each location, again this is very time consuming when compared to fitting all one size.
The effect of this in practice is to give a simple crystal set earring a whole new level of interest and style which we think is well worth the extra effort and gives Cachet Jewellery that unique Puzzle Set look.
This is just one of the ways that extra care and attention is put into each item of Cachet Jewellery, certainly there are easier ways of making fashion jewellery but we have been making it for over fourty years and Cachet London is the product of all those years of experience but maybe that is for another post.
